The article presents the results of using the scanning electron microscopy method to study the chemical composition, structure and surface topography of composite materials used in cruise missiles manufactured by the russian federation. In particular, fragments of the wing of the Kh-101 missile, fragments of the hull coatings, the leading edge of the wing, the nose fairing of the 9M727 «Iskander-K» cruise missile.
The article presents the results of the analysis of modern composite materials used in the creation of means of destruction. It was noted that the most common types of polymer composite materials used in the structural elements of modern weapons are: carbon plastics, organoplastics, fiberglass and boroplastics and hybrids based on Kevlar.
Studies of the chemical composition and structure of the wing fragment of the Kh-101 cruise missile showed that the main material of the wing is foamed glass. The use of arc-shaped inserts in the main material of the wing, reinforced with fibers with a high content of silicon, determine the high strength characteristics of the wing. In addition, carbon fibers (tubes) in the coating layer give the wing structure radio-absorbing properties.
Studies of the chemical composition and structure of the fragment of the coating of the leading edge of the wing of the 9M727 cruise missile of the «Iskander-K» complex have shown that the coating is combined and consists of magnetic and non-magnetic dielectric radio-absorbing materials.
The results of the study of the chemical composition, structure and surface topography of the fragments of cruise missiles of the russian federation by the method of scanning electron microscopy indicate the use in their production of mainly well-known carbon fiber, fiberglass and hybrid composite materials as materials of structural elements and coatings. The main purpose of using the above-mentioned composite materials is to increase the strength of airframes, as well as to reduce the radio visibility of these weapons.
The application of the method of scanning electron microscopy made it possible to determine with maximum accuracy the chemical composition, structure and topology of the elements of cruise missiles produced by the russian federation, made of composite materials, which, in turn, will save time and resources in the development of domestic missile systems and anti-missile defense systems.
