Abstract

On February 24, 2022, the armed forces of the russian federation began a full-scale invasion of the territory of sovereign Ukraine. The seismological network of the Main Center of Special Control of the State Space Agency of Ukraine registered thousands of explosions (missile, aviation, artillery strikes) with a magnitude of mb exceeding 0.5. Based on the analysis of seismic signals registered by the stations of the seismological network of the Main Center of Special Control of the State Space Agency of Ukraine relations between energy classes were determined (K), magnitudes (mb), maximum amplitudes of longitudinal volume phases.

From many years of experience in studying underground, ground-based chemical explosions, it is known that a certain insignificant part of the energy (less than 5 %) is transferred to the zone of elastic deformations, including the formation of seismic oscillations. The scale of a seismic phenomenon by recording seismic waves at some distance from the source (an ammunition explosion) can be estimated by calculating the magnitude M or energy E.

Using seismograms of explosions of aerial bombs, missile warheads, artillery ammunition at seismic stations of the Main Center for Special Control of the State Space Agency of Ukraine on the basis of analysis of statistical data on explosions in Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytsky, Chernihiv regions, the power of explosions of which ranged from several tens to several thousand kilograms, functional dependences were obtained: explosion power in TNT equivalent.

The obtained empirical dependencies make it possible to determine to which probable types the ammunition used belongs (aerial bombs, missiles, artillery ammunition).
