The article contains an analysis of US strategic approaches and the operation of the process of protecting intellectual property rights. The joint coordinated efforts of the Congress, the Presidential Administration and other branches of government, the US private sector regarding intellectual property were considered with a view to achieving the success of this country's innovation policy. The article also presents the results of research by the US Defense Analysis Institute regarding the inclusion of intellectual property protection requirements in defense procurement policies.
