In the conditions of the russian-Ukrainian war (its protracted nature, but high technological dynamics in the security and defense sector), the defense and industrial enterprises of Ukraine found themselves faced with the need for deep structural transformation. At this stage, the classic models of modernization and gradual renewal of production are insufficient. There is a need for a new, more flexible and dynamic model of transformation that is able to adapt enterprises to the conditions of the war economy, while ensuring the integration of innovation, cross-sectoral cooperation and institutional sustainability. In this article, the authors proposed a conceptual model of the innovative transformation of defense industry enterprises, which is considered as the result of the interaction of three interrelated contours: institutional (change in regulatory and organizational mechanisms); engineering and technological (updating means of production, integration of R&D); organizational (transition to network forms of management and adaptive structures). That is, the research problem consists in determining the key factors and conditions that make this transformation possible, as well as in building a generalized model that can be adapted to different types of defense enterprises in Ukraine – both public and private. The main goal of the model is to provide formalization of the process of transformation of defense industry enterprises through innovation in the conditions of a military economy, taking into account the current strategic, financial, personnel and technological limitations.
Within the scope of this article, the authors formalized typical scenarios of transformation of enterprises of the defense-industrial complex of Ukraine in the format of three trajectories: incremental, cluster-innovative and radical-innovative. Each of them reflects a certain logic of development, which depends on the initial conditions of the enterprise, the availability of resources, the level of technological readiness and the degree of integration into the innovation environment
