Low-altitude air targets such as cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles are destroyed mainly by means of close-range air defense or small arms. Means of short-range anti-aircraft defense have an extremely limited reaction time to the target, so the task of providing early targeting in any weather conditions day and night with high accuracy is extremely urgent. The task of countering the movement of air targets is solved by radar irradiation of possible «corridors» of their flight. At the same time, the use of multi-positional systems allows the detection of radar-inconspicuous targets. To determine the coordinates of the air target on the flight path, the difference-range method can be used. In the classical case, the solution of the problem of determining coordinates by the difference-range method is based on the solution of a system of nonlinear equations and is carried out using numerical methods of successive approximations (with iterative procedures), which is associated with a number of limitations regarding the substantiation of the parameters of iterative methods, often with a low rate of convergence in practical applications, low repeatability for different methods. The article examines the errors of determining the coordinates of aerial targets by the difference-range-finding method for different composition of signal receivers. In contrast to known works, a system with an additional receiving point and a radio altimeter remote from the reference receiving point is proposed. The presence of an additional acceptance point makes it possible to transform the presentation of the classical difference-range method into a system of linear equations, which provides real-time calculations without the use of iterative procedures. The distributed architecture of receivers determines the stability of the system, and the passive nature of measurements determines the stealth and survivability of its elements. The acquired properties make it possible to consider the proposed system for detecting low-altitude inconspicuous air targets and targeting short-range air defense means, including allowing the use of similar systems in the interests of protecting critical infrastructure objects.
