Abstract

We substantiate the necessity of upgrading methods and algorithms used when developing perspective signal intelligence and/or radiofrequency monitoring systems. We show this problem is caused by increasing the requirements with respect to capabilities of signal intelligence and/or radiofrequency monitoring systems which, being wideband systems, operate under complicated interference conditions. These requirements touch on capabilities concerning search and detecting the signals in interference background and also capabilities regarding estimating the angles of arrival of radiofrequency emission sources and resolving the signals over angular coordinate. We assert that the method of electronic environment revealing in tactical level based on complex analyzing spatial-temporal relationships between the signals of radiofrequency emission sources envisages two procedures of signal intelligence that are performed consequently: 1) detecting the radiofrequency emission sources signals and estimating the central frequencies of their spectra when realizing searchless method of signal detection over angular coordinates; 2) direction finding and geolocating radiofrequency emission sources.

We formulate the problems of estimating the central frequencies of signal spectra and estimating angle of arrival of the signals from a set of radiofrequency emission sources using multiple signal classification method for the purpose of searchless radiofrequency emission sources signal detection under low and intermediate intensity interference conditions.
